Carros são abastecidos na tomada!
Quando o assunto é carro elétrico normalmente se fala de protótipos futuristas onde cabe apenas uma pessoa, com uma série de restrições de uso para o motorista comum. Dois modelos elétricos recém-lançados prometem transformar essa imagem. O primeiro é um superesportivo - o Lightning GT.
Já o segundo, o Smart For Two, é uma adaptação do modelo já existente movido a combustíveis fósseis, e foi concebido para rodar em cidades com graves problemas de trânsito e estacionamento, Lançado na Inglaterra, o Lightning GT, é um superesportivo com 700 cavalos de potência. O novo carro inglês é mais potente que outros modelos cobiçados no mundo inteiro, como a Ferrari 575M, que possui “apenas” 450 cavalos.
Entre as vantagens estão o fim das altas despesas com combustível e a contribuição para a não-emissão de gases causadores do efeito estufa. O veículo foi criado pela Lightning Car Company e alcança, partindo do zero, 100 km/h em 4 segundos. Toda essa potência é gerada a partir de baterias de íons de titânio, cuja capacidade de armazenamento é alta e veloz: de acordo com a fabricante, são necessários apenas 10 minutos para recarregá-las.
Quem se interessar em possuir o modelo terá que aguardar até o final de 2008, data que a fabricante estima colocar o carro à venda em seu país. Cidade A Smart, empresa do grupo Daimler-Chrysler, apresenta a versão elétrica do Smart For Two. De acordo com a fabricante, o modelo é uma evolução do Smart For Two atual, e será comercializado nos Estados Unidos a partir de 2008.
A versão elétrica já está sendo utilizada na Inglaterra, mas ainda não é vendida pois está em testes. Com 2,69m de comprimento, o modelo é ágil mesmo em uma cidade como Londres, que possui pesado tráfego. Além disso, a versão elétrica do Smart ajuda a combater a degradação do meio ambiente ao não emitir gases de efeito estufa e ruídos.
Em comparação ao Lightning GT o tempo de recarga da bateria é mais longo: ela leva cerca de oito horas para carregar. A montadora recomenda aos ingleses liguem o mini-carro na tomada à noite, pois lá as tarifas de energia têm preços diferentes de acordo com o horário.
